AV1 - a short description

The Alta Via No. 1 is the oldest and most renowned of the 10 Dolomites high routes, often referred to as the "classic route." Starting at the stunning Lago di Braies, the trail spans approximately 120 kilometers, leading south through the heart of the Dolomites to Belluno.

This iconic route combines breathtaking alpine landscapes, well-maintained trails, and the opportunity to explore some of the most fascinating areas of the Dolomites. It follows a natural north-south path, maintaining an average altitude of 2,000 meters and offering high-alpine conditions throughout the journey.

The route is suitable for reasonably fit and experienced hikers, with only minimal technical challenges. Easier variants are available for some sections, particularly towards the end.

Duration: 8–12 days
